The Queen to Visit Scotland

The Queen will be visiting Scotland from 2nd – 6th July as part of her Diamond Jubilee celebrations. The Queen, who is celebrating 60 years on the throne, will visit Edinburgh, Glasgow and Perth. The Queen, accompanied by Prince Phillip will be welcomed to Edinburgh and will partake in the ancient Ceremony of the Keys. This is where the Queen is welcomed to the ‘ancient and hereditary kingdom of Scotland’ and Edinburgh city by the Lord Provost. Her Majesty will then be handed the keys to the city but in keeping with tradition these will be handed back to the city’s elected officials for safekeeping. The Queen will then attend a Jubilee Thanksgiving service at Glasgow Cathedral and cap her visit off with a trip toPerth.Perth has just been granted city status as part of the Diamond Jubilee celebrations.
