Pixar’s New Film Focuses on Scotland

The new Pixar film, Brave is set to bring more and more tourists to the Isle of Lewis. The film’s storyline focuses on a set of standing stones very similar to the standing stones at Callanish, near Stornaway on Lewis. The stones on Lewis are over 5,000 years old and their original purpose is a mystery. It is thought they were originally constructed for rituals connected to the movement of the stars and moon. Now, however they will play an important part in the upcoming Pixar film, Brave. The film which is set to debut as part of this year’s Edinburgh Festival is about a Scottish princess. The film focuses on the Scottish tradition of storytelling and incorporating nature into everyday life and fairy tales. The Isle of Lewis is gearing up for a huge increase to it’s already busy tourist season as fans of the film visit to see the stunning scenery and history.
